In mid 2007, NRMA Motoring & Services and the NSW Farmer's Association identified a need to provide some form of assistance to drought affected families in NSW and ACT.
The Helping Farming Families Program was launched in November 2007 and offered 250 families the chance to enjoy a 5 night break at one of NRMA's 5 Holiday Parks, during 2008.
The program has been a huge success with positive responses from winners of holidays, NRMA Members and NRMA & NRMA Holiday Parks Board Director Graham Blight.
Here are some comments from some of the families:
"We had a great time, with some of our children seeing the beach for the first time. Somewhere we would not have gone if you hadn't been so kind..." Michael and Belinda Booth from Booligal NSW - Stayed at Darlington Beach Holiday Park.
"It gave our daughter a chance to socialise with other young children. The park's services and facilities were faultless. We hope to return in the future" Alison Ruthledge from Woodstock NSW - Stayed at Ocean Beach Holiday Park.
"We were thrilled to win this holiday. It was just what we needed. Our girls helped us on the farm most of the school holidays, so we appreciated being able to give them a break" Michele Cheers from Goolgowi NSW - Stayed at Sydney Gateway Holiday Park.
